Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international conservation charity founded in 1826 as the world's first scientific zoological society. During its near 200 years of history, it has had a firm legacy of conservation, research, and animal care in over 50 countries, helping it pursue its vision of a world where wildlife thrives. ZSL's purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people so that they understand their roles in helping stop wild animals from going extinct. ZSL has been working in Nepal for the past 27 years.

After having formally established a country office in 2014, ZSL has actively worked along with the government, communities and conservation partners to achieve conservation goals across Nepal primarily under the leadership of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. ZSL Nepal Office is seeking applications from qualified, talented and result-oriented Nepalese citizens for our Programme Development Specialist and Programme Officer position.

1. Programme Development Specialist

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the development of projects, working closely with senior management, finance and operation and programme team for the delivery of high-quality outputs with significant conservation impacts. The position is based in the ZSL Nepal office in Kathmandu with regular trips to our field projects.

Qualifications: The post holder should have at least a Master's degree in natural history (eg. natural resource management, forestry, wildlife science/ecology, environment science) and should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position in conservation programme development and donor relationship. 5/he should have outstanding writing skills and excellent general communication skills, with an ability to present well in wider stakeholders and donors. The post holder should have the strong intellectual ability, with the capability of understanding, describing and designing projects in the biodiversity conservation and development sector.

2. Programme Officer

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Implementation of a suite of projects, working closely with senior management to streamline current operations and ensure continuity of delivery of high-quality outputs with significant conservation impacts. The position is based in our west Nepal Kohalpur office, Banke National Park with regular trips to other field projects for support.

Qualifications: The post holder should have at least a Master's degree In natural history (eg. forestry) and should have a minimum of $ years' experience. S/he should have proven skills in project implementation, keeping track on M&E plans and reporting, and stakeholder's engagement in 251 supported conservation projects. Candidate should have proven skills In coordination among government agencies particularly the protected areas, Divisional Forest Offices, provincial ministries, and local government. Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation and the Ministry of Forests and Environment are the main line agencies of 251 supported project activities.
