United Mission to Nepal (UMN) Vacancy for Executive Director (Volunteer/Secondee):

United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international Christian development organisation which aims to enable the poorest people living in poverty to transform their lives, leading towards the fullness of life. As we serve the people of Nepal, multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in 6 districts, building partnerships that lead to healthy, dignified, and empowered individuals and transformed communities. UMN also operates two hospitals that provide high quality, holistic care particularly to those who cannot afford it elsewhere.

Position: Executive Director (volunteer/secondee)

Location: UMN Thapathali Office, Kathmandu

Salary/ Compensation: This is not a salaried position but must be self-supported or seconded by an appropriate volunteer sending agency, details of which may be provided to suitable candidates if required.

The ED provides overall leadership to UMN, accountable to the Board of Trustees, and oversees the management of UMN, ensuring it achieves its strategic objectives. The ED must communicate, embody and promote the vision, mission and values of the organisation; develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both locally and internationally, including the Government of Nepal and supporting donors; and work with UMN Supporting Partners and other current and new funding sources to raise funds and to develop the partnerships necessary for the fulfilment of the UMN vision.

The successful candidate will demonstrate considerable experience in:

  • Servant leadership;
  • People management in cross-cultural work contexts;
  • Strategy development and implementation;
  • Managing complex programming across multiple geographic areas;
  • Making an organisational vision tangible, and motivating the organisation to achieve it;
  • Building relationships with diverse stakeholders including government and donors.
