About the BICTE Program
Bachelor of Information Communication & Technological Education is a specialized undergraduate program of the Faculty of Education, Tribhuvan University. The program has been implemented in constituent and affiliated campuses since 2021. It developed from the earlier B.Ed. ICT program, which was modified into the BICTE program.
BICTE provides students with academic and practical exposure to information communication technology, hardware concepts, programming, data structure, management information system, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, web programming, software development and ICT-based pedagogy. The program is designed to prepare students with ICT knowledge and pedagogical skills for teaching computer science and supporting technology-based education.

Program Goals and Objectives
The goal of BICTE is to develop socially responsive, creative and result-oriented ICT professionals in the education sector. The program aims to equip graduates with the skills and attributes required for effective teacher-professional roles in Information and Communication Technology Education.
The program objectives include preparing competent ICT teachers and instructors for teaching computer science, digital pedagogy and ICT-related disciplines in schools and education sectors. It also aims to prepare IT professionals who can use computers and computational techniques to develop applications and systems for solving real-life problems in educational settings. Eligibility
Students applying for admission to BICTE must have completed twelve-year schooling, Grade 12 or an equivalent level from a university, board or institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.
Applicants must have a minimum C grade in each subject of Grade 12 with CGPA 2 or more, or secured at least second division in 10+2, PCL or an equivalent program. Students must also complete the required application procedure.
Admission Process
Eligible applicants must appear in the Central Education Admission Test (CEAT) conducted by the Faculty of Education. The test includes ICT skill and interest, language understanding, logical reasoning and educational philosophy understanding.

Teaching and Learning Approach
BICTE uses a combination of instructional techniques. Regular teaching methods include class lecture, group discussion, demonstration, guest lecture and field visit. Seminars, case analysis, problem-solving and fieldwork are also used for effective course delivery. Technology integration and digital pedagogy are applied in the teaching-learning process.
At Ghodaghodi Multiple Campus, teaching is also supported by traditional and ICT-based methods. The campus uses lectures, fieldwork, project-based assignments, PowerPoint presentations, report writing, research activities and collaborative learning. Guidance and counseling are available to support academic progress and preparation for job-related competitions.
Teaching Hours
Each semester is 5 months. Teaching hours depend on the nature of each course. Most courses carry 3 credit hours. One credit hour in theoretical courses carries 16 teaching hours, so a 3-credit theoretical course has 48 teaching hours.
For fully practical and theoretical-practical courses, one credit hour carries 32 to 48 teaching hours depending on the specialization area.
Teaching Practicum
In the final semester, students are attached to educational institutions for seven weeks. Each student prepares an individual project report in the prescribed format based on work completed in the assigned organization.
Internship evaluation is based on the confidential report from the organization, project report and report presentation. The report must be submitted by the end of the eighth semester. Students must secure at least grade C in the internship. The internship carries 3 credit hours.
Examination, Evaluation and Grading
BICTE follows the semester system. Internal ongoing evaluation carries 40 percent weightage, while external end-semester examination carries 60 percent weightage. Semester examinations are conducted by the Faculty of Education. The final grade is determined through overall performance in internal and external examinations.
Students must secure at least grade B- or GPA 2.70 in internal evaluation to qualify for the semester examination. To pass the semester examination, students must secure at least grade B- or CGPA 2.70.

Make-up or retake examinations are conducted as per the semester guideline 2074, section 4(10).
Attendance Requirement
Students must regularly attend theory and practical classes, assignments, study tours, field trips, seminars and presentations required by the course. A student must attend at least 80 percent of such activities to qualify for the semester examination.
Credit Transfer and Withdrawal
BICTE allows students to transfer credits earned in a similar program from other universities recognized by Tribhuvan University.
Students who have partially completed BICTE and want to discontinue their studies may withdraw from the program. In such cases, they receive a certificate specifying the credits earned in the program.
Graduation Requirements
The BICTE degree is awarded after successful completion of the program requirements. Students must complete 132 credit hours with the minimum passing grade in all courses and an aggregate CGPA of 2.70.
Students must complete the required courses within seven years from the time of registration.
