Program Introduction

The BBS program is designed to develop students’ understanding of business, administration, management, economics, finance, accounting, marketing, and organizational operations.

Tribhuvan University structures the course to provide a foundation in business-related disciplines, core management studies, functional specialization, research methods, and project work. The program aims to prepare graduates for responsibilities in organized activities across business, industry, government, and other management-related settings. It also provides an academic foundation for higher studies in management.

Course Structure

The four-year BBS curriculum consists of compulsory courses, core business courses, concentration courses, business research methods, and final project work.

Students must successfully complete 19 courses carrying 1,950 marks and a final project carrying 50 marks. The complete program therefore carries 2,000 marks.

First Year

The first year develops a foundation in business communication, statistics, economics, accounting, and management.

The courses are:

  • Business Statistics

  • Microeconomics for Business

  • Financial Accounting and Analysis

  • Principles of Management

Each first-year course carries 100 marks.

Second Year

The second year introduces students to communication, macroeconomics, management accounting, organizational behavior, human resource management, and financial management.

The courses are:

  • Business Communication

  • Macroeconomics for Business

  • Cost and Management Accounting

  • Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management

  • Fundamentals of Financial Management

Each second-year course carries 100 marks.

Third Year

The third year focuses on legal, financial, strategic, taxation, and marketing aspects of business.

The courses are:

  • Business Law

  • Foundation of Financial Systems

  • Business Environment and Strategy

  • Taxation in Nepal

  • Fundamentals of Marketing

Each third-year course carries 100 marks.

Fourth Year

The fourth year combines entrepreneurship, specialization, research, and project work.

Entrepreneurship and each concentration course carry 100 marks. Business Research Methods and the Final Project carry 50 marks each.

Tribhuvan University provides concentration areas in Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing. Students select three courses from one concentration area.

Eligibility

Applicants must have successfully completed 10+2 in business or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a board, university, or institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.

Applicants must also meet any additional admission requirements prescribed by the Faculty Board or Khaptad Multiple Campus.

Teaching and Learning

The BBS curriculum supports learning through lectures, group discussions, problem-solving exercises, practical work, project activities, and case-based study where appropriate.

Students study language, economics, law, statistics, accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, taxation, entrepreneurship, and research. This combination develops knowledge of both general business operations and specialized management functions.

Khaptad Multiple Campus has arrangements for regular class tests and internal examinations. The campus also has classrooms, a library, a computer laboratory, internet and Wi-Fi services, sports facilities, clean drinking water, and a campus bus service.

Attendance and Assessment

The final academic evaluation is conducted through annual examinations administered by the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Tribhuvan University.

Students must maintain at least 70 percent attendance in classes actually conducted to qualify for the annual examination. Students are also required to pass theoretical, practical, and project components separately where applicable.

Final Project Work

Final project work is a compulsory component of the fourth year. It introduces students to practical organizational settings and research-based academic work.

Students complete four weeks of fieldwork in an organization during the period fixed by the campus. They then prepare a project report in the prescribed format. The project may include a presentation and viva voce conducted through the concerned campus research committee.

The BBS program may suit students interested in accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics, entrepreneurship, and organizational administration.
