The Master of Education (M.Ed.) at Khaptad Multiple Campus is a two-year postgraduate program affiliated with Tribhuvan University. It is offered under the Faculty of Education through a four-semester academic system.

Khaptad Multiple Campus is a community campus located in Gauriganga Municipality-7, Masuriya, Kailali, Sudurpashchim Province. Classes are conducted in the morning.

Course Overview

Program Introduction

The M.Ed. program combines advanced study in education with specialization, teaching practice or practicum, research, and thesis writing. It is structured for students who have completed an education-related bachelor’s degree or an accepted postgraduate diploma in education.

The program covers educational theory, pedagogy, research, policy, planning, management, assessment, and subject-based education. Its academic objectives include preparing teachers, educational planners, administrators, managers, supervisors, researchers, and other education professionals.

Duration and Course Structure

The normal duration of the M.Ed. program is 24 months, divided into four semesters. Students complete 69 credit hours across core professional courses, specialization courses, teaching practice or practicum, and thesis writing.

The program contains seven core courses. Core academic areas include foundations of education, advanced educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, education and development, research methodology, and contemporary issues in education.

Specialization courses account for the largest part of the curriculum. The first three semesters normally carry 18 credit hours each, while the fourth semester carries 15 credit hours. Teaching Practice or Practicum and the thesis are completed during the final semester.

Eligibility

Applicants with a Bachelor of Education from Tribhuvan University or another recognized university are eligible to apply. Applicants who have completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from Tribhuvan University or a recognized university may also qualify.

Specialization-specific eligibility depends on the subjects studied in the previous degree. For example, Nepali Education generally requires B.Ed. with major or minor Nepali Education, while English Education requires major or minor English Education. Mathematics Education requires a relevant mathematics background.

Applicants entering through a BA or B.Sc. pathway must meet the subject requirements and hold the applicable education qualification specified for the selected specialization.

Teaching and Learning Methods

The program uses lectures together with assignments, project work, seminars, case studies, and field studies. These methods connect advanced educational theory with academic writing, research, classroom practice, and professional educational settings.

Teaching Practice or Practicum is a three-credit component. It requires students to apply their subject knowledge and pedagogical preparation in a practical setting.

The six-credit thesis component includes proposal development, preparation for data collection, research work, and supervised thesis writing.

Assessment and Grading

Assessment combines work completed during the semester with a semester-end examination. The course teacher evaluates assignments and other learning activities conducted during the semester, which carry 40 percent of the total evaluation for each subject.

Students must also appear in the semester-end examination conducted by the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Education. Teaching Practice or Practicum and the thesis are practical courses assessed through arrangements made by the Dean’s Office.

The minimum passing grade for an individual semester-end paper is B minus, equivalent to a GPA of 2.7 or 55 percent. To pass the semester examination, a student must secure at least Grade B or a cumulative GPA of 3.0, equivalent to 60 percent.

M.Ed. students study in the morning shift at a Tribhuvan University-affiliated community campus. Academic facilities include technology-friendly classrooms, a library, a computer laboratory, internet and Wi-Fi services.
