Overview
Pre-Diploma in Plant Science (PJTA) at SAMP
Overview
PJTA at SAMP is an approximately 18-month program that prepares junior technicians for crop husbandry and community support. The course follows CTEVT guidelines and focuses on practical tasks that local farmers expect.
Eligibility and Intake
Admission and seat categories follow the CTEVT pre-diploma cycle. SAMP shares the schedule for applications, verification, and reporting each session.
Curriculum Focus at SAMP
Learners study basics of agronomy, horticulture, soil and manure management, plant protection, nursery management, and simple post-harvest handling. Practice includes seedbed preparation, transplanting, composting, pest scouting, and irrigation routines.
Field Practice and Records
Students maintain short field diaries, input lists, and task checklists. SAMP uses campus plots and nearby fields for scheduled practice, enabling repeated exposure to seasonal work within a short training window.
Assessment
Evaluation includes internal tests, practical exams, viva, and CTEVT board examinations. Supervisors track completion of task sheets and simple records.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates assist ward agriculture services, cooperatives, and agri-input outlets. They can support nursery work, crop planting, basic protection measures, and simple demonstrations during farmer meetings.
