Rastriya Dhan Diwas

Paddy Day, which is celebrated every year on Asar 15, is being celebrated today by working in the fields and eating Dahi Chiura. Farmers who are tired of work eat Dahi Chiura to gain strength. The National Paddy Day has been celebrated since the 15th of Asar 2062 BS by a ministerial decision on 29th of Mansir 2061 BS. As an agricultural country, the occupation of most of the people of Nepal is agriculture.

At this time, it is believed that Dahi Chiura cools the body and stores energy. Asar 15 is also considered as the festival of eating Dahi Chiura in Nepali society. Apart from agriculture, Nepalis engaged in other professions and businesses also celebrate Dahi Chiura today.

Yogurt has an important place in our culture. It is a tradition to apply Rato Tika on the forehead by rubbing yogurt before going out of the house for good deeds, going abroad, etc.

Yogurt is also considered healthy from a scientific point of view. It is said that Guru Gorakhnath prophesied the unification of Nepal by giving yogurt to King Prithvi Narayan Shah. In Ayurveda, it is said that if you drink curd at the end of a meal, you do not have to go to a health worker for medical treatment. Yogurt also increases digestion. Therefore, the culture of eating Dahi Chiura has taken a big shape in Nepali culture. Thus, Asar 15 has succeeded in becoming a national cultural festival in Nepali society.
