Economic Planning and Statistics Budget 2082/83

Integrated Project Management and Coordination

To prevent duplication of projects among federal, provincial, and local governments as outlined in Nepal’s Constitution, an Integrated National Project Bank Management Information System will be implemented. Coordination and collaboration between levels of government will be ensured for the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. Interlinkages will be maintained between the project bank, the medium-term expenditure framework, and ministry-wise budget information systems.

National Economic Census and Statistical Modernization

The National Economic Census 2082 will be completed. The base year for national accounts will be updated. Statistical profiles for the federal, provincial, and local levels will be prepared. Big data processing capabilities will be developed. The concept of open data will be gradually implemented.

National Security and Public Order

Sovereignty, Integrity, and National Unity

Nepal's sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and dignity will be protected. Social harmony and national unity will be strengthened.

Empowering Security Agencies

Security agencies will be strengthened, made capable, and professional through the provision of adequate resources and tools. Military equipment, arms, and security gear needed for security bodies will be provided. The capacity of the Nepal Army will be enhanced to engage in national security, development works, and disaster management. The "From Bunker to Barrack" program will be continued.

Local Administration and Law Enforcement

Local administration will be strengthened to maintain peace, order, and public security. Nepal Police will be empowered for maintaining law and order and controlling crime. The Armed Police Force, Nepal will be deployed in border security, disaster management, and peacekeeping operations. The research capacity of the National Investigation Department will be developed.

Immigration Reform and Visa System Upgrade

The immigration system will be upgraded to offer online payment and e-visa services. Residential visas will be provided free of charge to experts and investors engaged in startup ventures. A digital nomad visa will be introduced for individuals residing in Nepal while working remotely for foreign companies.

Expansion of National Service Corps and Drug Awareness

The scope and effectiveness of the National Service Corps will be expanded. Awareness programs will be implemented in collaboration with communities to protect youth and children from drug abuse and addiction.

Prison Reform and Rehabilitation

Prisons will be transformed into rehabilitation centers through the development of physical infrastructure, skills-based training, entrepreneurial support environments, and psychosocial counseling. The concept of open prisons will be gradually implemented. Infrastructure for under-construction prisons will be completed and brought into operation.
