Four Experts Appointed to CTEVT Academic Council
Kathmandu, 4 July 2026,
The Ministry of Education and Sports has nominated four experts as members of the Academic Council of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). The ministry appointed one member each from the fields of information technology, industry, STEM education, and nursing/public health.
The newly appointed council members and their backgrounds are as follows:
Dr. Amrita Sharma: Dr. Sharma, an IT and digital policy expert, is known as an active researcher and policy expert in the fields of information technology, digital transformation, digital economy, and public policy.
Birendra Raj Pandey: Pandey, President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, is an established entrepreneur in the construction, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. With an engineering background, he has led construction business, infrastructure development, and the private sector for more than three decades.
Dr. Dipeshwarman Shrestha: Dr. Shrestha, co-founder of Karkhana and a STEM education expert, earned a PhD in STEM education from Tufts University in the United States. He has made a special contribution in Nepal to practical learning based on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics; teachers’ professional capacity development; promotion of the “making” culture; and expansion of innovation-oriented education.
Pramila Rana: Rana, an expert in the fields of nursing and public health, earned a master’s degree in nursing from India and completed a fellowship in Health and Society from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
Role of the Academic Council
The Academic Council of CTEVT is the main body that provides academic and scholarly leadership to the council. It has been playing an important role in curriculum development, approval of new programs, academic quality assurance, evaluation systems, and long-term policy direction for technical and vocational education.
