Khalti Introduces Stripe-Based International Payment Service for Nepali Freelancers
The Khalti by IME mobile wallet has introduced a new service for freelancers and digital entrepreneurs working from Nepal for foreign companies or clients. The service has been launched through a strategic partnership between IME Limited and the globally recognized payment gateway Stripe, allowing users to receive international payments directly into their Khalti wallet.
In a press release issued on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Khalti said that Nepali freelancers and businesspersons can now receive payments from abroad in their Khalti wallet instantly and without hassle.
Under this service, Khalti users will be able to send a Payment Request to foreign clients through the app. After receiving the request, the foreign company or client will be able to make the payment through the Stripe gateway using various methods such as Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or e-banking.
According to Khalti, the paid amount will be deposited immediately into the Khalti wallet of the Nepali user.
Khalti Chief Executive Officer Praveen Regmi described the partnership as an important milestone in Nepal’s fintech sector.
“This service has opened the door for Nepali entrepreneurs and digital talents to work in the global market and receive their earnings immediately,” said Regmi. “A domestic digital wallet making cross-border transactions easier will make a major contribution to the expansion of Nepal’s digital economy.”
