Kathmandu University’s 31st Convocation Ceremony Second Phase Concludes: 1,527 Students Graduate
The 31st convocation ceremony, second phase, of Kathmandu University (KU) has concluded in Dhulikhel. A total of 1,527 students from various disciplines graduated at the ceremony held under the chairpersonship of Minister for Education and Sports and Pro-Chancellor of the University, Sasmit Pokharel.
At the ceremony, Minister Pokharel presented certificates to students who had achieved outstanding academic performance.
Level-Wise and School-Wise Details of Graduating Students
The level-wise details of the 1,527 graduating students are as follows:
Bachelor’s Level: 1,132 students
Master’s Level: 279 students
MPhil/Master by Research: 93 students
PhD Level: 21 students
PGDE Level: 2 students
According to the information provided at the program, the number of students graduating under different schools out of the total 1,527 students is as follows:
School of Medical Sciences: 504 students
School of Engineering: 355 students
School of Science: 307 students
School of Arts: 161 students
School of Management: 146 students
School of Education: 112 students
School of Law: 42 students
Programs Receiving Degrees for the First Time
KU has stated that this year it awarded degrees for the first time to students of the following programs:
Bachelor of Technology in Artificial Intelligence: 26 students
Master of Science in Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology: 4 students
Doctor of Medicine in Neonatology: 3 students
Gold Medal Winners
Two students who achieved outstanding academic performance were awarded gold medals at the ceremony:
Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal: Rista Shrestha, who passed the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering with the highest CGPA of 3.99 at the bachelor’s level.
Mahesh Nath Parajuli Gold Medal: Anju Kumari, who passed the Master of Education in Leadership and Management under the School of Education with the highest CGPA of 3.97 in the two-year master’s level.
Foreign Students and Gender Details
Among the graduating students, 11.72 percent were from seven countries other than Nepal. A total of 179 foreign students from Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America graduated at the ceremony. According to the University, this number of foreign students is about 50 percent higher than in the previous convocation ceremony.
Similarly, among the total graduating students, 52.39 percent were male and 47.61 percent were female.
University’s Overall Statistics
After this convocation ceremony, the total number of students graduating from Kathmandu University has reached 51,567. So far, 6,039 foreign students have graduated from the University, which accounts for about 12 percent of the total graduates.
