Nepal Police Calls for 133,980 Myadi Police for HoR Election

Nepal Police has called for the recruitment of 133,980 Myadi police (Prahari). The Police Headquarters issued a notice on 24th Poush 2082, Thursday, informing interested and eligible candidates to participate in the recruitment process.

Applications for the election police can be submitted at all 77 District Police Offices from 2082 Poush 25 to 2082 Magh 1. The Police Headquarters stated that, by the final date for registering the application form, applicants must have completed 18 years of age and must not have exceeded 54 years.

Eligibility Requirements

According to Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Abinaraayan Kafle, the following individuals can apply for election police:

  • Nepali citizens

  • Individuals able to read and write basic Nepali

  • Individuals who have not been sentenced by a court in any criminal case involving moral turpitude

  • Individuals who are not members of any political party at the time of recruitment

  • Individuals who are physically and mentally healthy

  • Individuals who are not members of any terrorist or destructive organization

Selection Preference and Eligible Groups

The Police Headquarters stated that the following individuals will be selected as election police:

  • Retired former security personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, or the Armed Police Force Nepal, or former forest guards

  • Individuals who, from last Magh to the end of this Poush, applied for recruitment to various posts in security organizations and passed physical fitness and health tests

Deputy Inspector General Kafle also stated that the following individuals will be selected as election police:

  • Individuals previously recruited as Myadi police in House of Representatives, Provincial Assembly, and local level elections who performed satisfactorily

  • Nepali citizens who worked in the security agencies of foreign friendly nations and retired

Selection Schedule and Training

According to Deputy Inspector General Kafle:

  • Preliminary selection from applicants will be conducted from Magh 5 to Magh 9.

  • The final results are scheduled to be published on Magh 12.

  • Training and instruction for election police will be conducted from Magh 15 to Magh 24.

Duration of Service and Procedure Approval

The service period for election police will be 40 days from the date of appointment, or as determined by the Government of Nepal.

The notice states that if the service period of election police changes based on the election period, it will be adjusted accordingly.

For the selection of election police, the government has already approved the Integrated Procedure 2082 related to recruitment selection, appointment, and deployment of election police (Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal).

Pay, Allowances, and Benefits

Election police will receive NPR 869.40 per day for up to 40 days, equivalent to the starting salary scale of a Nepal Police constable. For 40 days, they will receive NPR 34,776.

Deputy Inspector General Kafle stated that, for food expenses for 40 days, the amount for each election police will be made available in the individual’s personal bank account at the rate equivalent to what Nepal Police receives in the concerned district.

He further stated that election police deployed during the election will receive a one-time lump sum preparatory expense of NPR 846 per election police to cover preparation for travel to and from the deployment location.

A snack expense of NPR 300 per day will be provided for four days, as a lump sum of NPR 1,200 per election police.

Election police will also receive an amount for uniforms based on the rates determined by the Police Headquarters.

Compensation for Injury or Death

If an election police officer is injured in the course of duty, the person concerned will receive compensation as prescribed by the Government of Nepal. In the event of death, the nearest legal heir will receive compensation as prescribed by the Government of Nepal.
