Nepal Rastra Bank Brings New Rs 50 Banknotes into Circulation
Nepal Rastra Bank, through its Currency Management Department, has brought new Rs 50 banknotes into circulation while retaining the existing size and color.
According to a notice published by the Bank on 2083 Ashoj 2, banknotes bearing serial numbers from ट/२४ ०००००१ to ण/७० ९९९९९९ have been put into circulation from the same date.
The newly issued banknotes bear the signature of Governor Prof. Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel. According to the notice, the new banknotes have the following features:
Features on the Front of the Banknote

The central section of the note contains the promissory statement: “Nepal Rastra Bank. Guaranteed by the Government of Nepal. Rupees 50, Rupees Fifty, will be paid immediately by Nepal Rastra Bank on demand.”

The left side of the note features an image of Mount Everest.

The right side contains a rhododendron watermark, with the numeral “50” as a watermark below it.

The lower section of the note bears the series number “B.S. 2082.”

The note contains a 1.2 mm-wide security thread woven into the paper. When held against the light, the thread appears fully visible and bears the letters “NRB.”
Features on the Reverse of the Banknote

The central section of the note features an image of a snow leopard, with “NEPAL RASTRA BANK” written above it.

The lower section bears the words “RUPEES FIFTY” and the series number “2025 A.D.”
Clarification Regarding the Previous Notice
The Bank has also included a clarification regarding a notice previously published on 2077 Ashar 22.
At that time, the Bank had announced that Rs 50 banknotes of Series 2019, bearing serial numbers from ज/८९ ०००००१ to ट/३३ ९९९९९९, would be brought into circulation.
The Bank has now clarified that only banknotes bearing serial numbers from ज/८९ ०००००१ to ट/२३ ९००००० were actually brought into circulation.
The notice concludes with the message:
“Banknotes are national property; let us take care of them.”
