Far Western University (FWU) is a government-funded national university established in 2010 under the Far Western University Act, 2067. Its central office is located in Bhimdatta Municipality, Kanchanpur, Sudurpashchim Province. Governance and University Administration

Far Western University has a multi-level governance structure connecting statutory authorities, academic councils, administrative divisions, faculties, schools, campuses, and specialized centers.

The Prime Minister of Nepal serves as Chancellor of the university. As of 19 August 2026, Prof. Dr. Kishan Datta Bhatta is listed as Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Govinda Singh Bista as Registrar.

The institutional structure includes the University Assembly, Pro-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Service Commission, Registrar, and Appeal Commission.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
