The program is structured as both an academic and professional degree. It is designed to prepare students to teach two subjects at the secondary level by combining a major specialization with a different minor specialization.

B.Ed. Course Structure

Students must complete 22 courses carrying a total of 2,200 marks. The first and second years each carry 600 marks, while the third and fourth years each carry 500 marks.

Communication Skills consists of General Nepali and General English. The Professional Core Areas include Philosophical and Sociological Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology, and Curriculum and Evaluation.

Students also select one elective professional course from Instructional Technology, ICT in Education, or ICT in a Specialized Subject. The fourth year includes the teaching internship or practicum carrying 100 marks.

Major and Minor Specializations

The B.Ed. curriculum requires students to choose one major specialization consisting of ten courses. Major specialization areas include:

Eligibility for Admission

Applicants must have completed Higher Secondary Education, Grade 12, the Tribhuvan University Proficiency Certificate Level, or an equivalent qualification.

Additional requirements depend on the chosen major specialization:

• Nepali Education requires Nepali as a major subject carrying at least 200 marks.

• English Education requires a background in English or Linguistics, at least 50 percent in General English, or 50 percent in the entrance examination conducted by the respective campus department.

• Mathematics Education requires Mathematics as a major subject carrying at least 200 marks.

• Science Education requires Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with each subject carrying at least 100 full marks.

• Geography Education, Economics Education, Political Science Education, and History Education accept Grade 12, PCL, or equivalent qualifications from any faculty.

Health and Physical Education and Population Education have separate subject-background conditions. Minor specializations, except Biological Science, are generally open regardless of the subjects studied in Grade 11 and Grade 12 or at the PCL level.

Teaching and Academic Focus

The curriculum brings together educational theory, subject knowledge, teaching methods, curriculum studies, assessment, and classroom practice.
