The Pre-Diploma level electrical program at NTI follows CTEVT’s syllabus and is aimed at entry-level wiring, testing, and maintenance tasks under supervision.
Emphasis is placed on safe handling of tools, correct use of measuring instruments, and neat documentation.
The program generally runs for about 18 months. Admission follows CTEVT’s entrance and merit process. Applicants must meet Pre-Diploma-level requirements and complete counseling steps within the deadline.
Study areas include:
Basics of electricity, circuits, and measurements
Domestic/commercial wiring, earthing, fuses, and protection
Small motor controls and lighting systems
Use of multimeters, clamp meters, and basic testers
Workplace safety, log keeping, and fault reporting
Practical work includes wiring boards, conduit practice, jointing, testing, and troubleshooting. NTI maintains a stepwise checklist for lab tasks and simple job sheets for each practical. Site visits show switchboards, distribution boards, and load management practices.
Evaluation is based on internal tests, practical exams, assignments, and the CTEVT final examination. Consistent attendance, safety compliance, and complete practical files are required. Graduates are awarded the CTEVT Pre-Diploma certificate.
Graduates can support electricians and maintenance teams in buildings, shops, and small industrial units. Those who wish to continue can apply for diploma-level electrical programs based on eligibility.
