Program Aim
The program aims to prepare competent mid-level technical human resources with knowledge and skills in plant science, agriculture, and related disciplines. It is designed for students interested in crop production, horticulture, plant protection, agricultural extension, agribusiness, and sustainable farming systems.
Curriculum Structure
The course is organized across three academic years. The first year focuses on foundational and basic disciplinary subjects in agricultural science. The second year emphasizes plant science subjects, especially crop production and management systems. The third year focuses on marketing and enterprise development.
A six-month internship in the third year provides workplace-based learning. The internship helps students apply technical skills in agriculture-related work settings.

Eligibility and Admission
Eligibility: Candidates must complete SLC, SEE, or equivalent with a minimum C grade in any two subjects and a D+ grade in one subject among Mathematics, Science, and English.
Candidates who have completed Pre-Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science) or equivalent with a minimum of 68.33% are also eligible.
Admission: Candidates must pass the entrance examination administered by CTEVT, or meet the admission guidelines of CTEVT’s Office of the Controller of Examinations.
Attendance Requirement: A minimum of 90% attendance in each subject is required to be eligible for the final examination.
Learning Outcomes
The program prepares students to provide agronomy, horticulture, and plant protection services for small-scale and commercial farming. Students are trained to support extension and community development services as front-line extension workers.
Graduates are expected to conduct farmer-level training related to land productivity, plant protection, soil management, fertilizer use, and adoption of new technology. The course also develops capacity in agribusiness and cooperative services for rural and urban areas.
The program covers diverse agricultural practices, including plant breeding, commercial vegetable production, mushroom cultivation, fruit crop production, medicinal plant production, aquaculture, organic farming, off-season vegetable production, waste management, green skills, and climate-smart agriculture.
Practical Learning at Rapti Technical School
Rapti Technical School has more than ten hectares of land. Its facilities include laboratories, workshop, library, student hostel with 100 beds and canteen, guesthouse, staff quarters, livestock farm, horticultural farm and orchard, human and veterinary clinic, private water source, training building, and classrooms.
For plant science students, the horticultural farm and orchard support field-based learning in crop and plant-related areas. Laboratories, classrooms, and practical training spaces support technical instruction throughout the three-year program.
