Gorkhapatra Literary Conference on Tourism Concludes
A two-day event titled “Literature for Tourism: Gorkhapatra Literary Conference” organized by Gorkhapatra Corporation has concluded.
The conference, held on Friday and Saturday, took place at Shailung, a religious and tourist destination located at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level, and included poetry recitations aimed at promoting tourism.
Call for Literary Documentation and Creative Journalism
At the conference, Gorkhapatra Corporation’s General Manager, Lal Bahadur Airi, said that the initiative sought to encourage local creators to document their work through writing and to “light a lamp” in Shailung.
He stated, “Journalism from now on must be linked with contemporary public life. An environment must be created for historically important sites to develop through literary growth. It is expected that this program will introduce this religious and tourist site to the world. The media must now also engage in creative journalism.”
General Manager Airi further remarked that society and journalism must be directly connected and that, at a time when trust in newspapers and periodicals is declining, such initiatives can help reduce this contraction.
