Discussion on Laxman Adhikari’s ‘Morphine’
At a poetry gathering organized by Nagarjun Vagmaya Pratisthan in the capital on Saturday, a discussion was held on storyteller Laxman Adhikari’s short story collection ‘Morphine’.
Critic Dr. Lekhraj Khatriwada said that the stories in ‘Morphine’ have successfully explored the overall aspects of Nepal’s medical sector.
The gathering, chaired by the Pratisthan’s President Dil Paudel, featured readings of poetry, micro-stories, and ghazals by 19 poets. The audience particularly enjoyed poet Dambar Pahadi’s Elaak (one-line poem). Professor Jagat Prasad Upadhyay Prekshit reviewed the poems read at the event.
He discussed that the poems presented at the gathering gave greater priority to contemporaneity. He added that poets should read others’ works as much as possible and, by continuing their writing, should keep refining their work.
In the recitation program, two poems by poet Purna Biram were read by other poets.
At the program, storyteller Laxman Adhikari of ‘Morphine’ said that he began writing stories while turning information and materials received during journalism into narrative form, and that the ‘Morphine’ story collection was published in that process.
At the event, Professor Jagat Prasad Upadhyay Prekshit, Dr. Lekhraj Khatriwada, Laxman Adhikari, and Dambar Pahadi were honored.
