Vishist Sadhak Samman 2082 Honours Three Artists
The National Creators and Presenters Foundation has honoured three senior creators who have made distinguished contributions to the field of art with the “Vishist Sadhak Samman 2082”.
Bhairav Bahadur Thapa, Nepal’s first dance director and a renowned artist who has long been dedicated to various areas of fine arts and has made a distinct contribution to Nepali art and music; senior singer and writer Chandrakala Shah; and senior folk singer and lyric collector Resham Thapa were each honoured with a cash prize of Rs. 5,555, a shawl and a letter of appreciation.
Ceremony at the Artists’ Residences
On the 6th of Mangsir, office bearers of the institution visited each creator’s residence separately and conferred the honour in the presence of family members.
The honoured creators expressed their happiness at being honoured in a family setting at their own homes. They also extended best wishes that the institution may be able to fulfil its objective of contributing to the welfare of Nepali art and artists.
The son of the 93-year-old renowned dance trainer Thapa, well-known music arranger Maharaj Thapa, also screened a documentary based on his father’s contribution to the development and promotion of Nepali dance in the country and abroad.
Participants in the Programme
The programme was conducted in the presence of the institution’s advisor and senior lyricist Ramesh Dahal; senior composer and singer Kamal Adhikari; working committee chair Narayan Bahadur Thapa; senior vice-chair Dipak Sharma; vice-chair Sujata KC; general secretary Sanam Kathayat; secretary Rita KC; treasurer Pratiksha Kafle; and members Birendra Bhat “Bipin”, Manoj Pariyar, David Shankar, Subash Timsina, Kopila Sibakoti, Pramod Digi and Bikrant Acharya.
Family members were also present at the honour programme.
Previous Editions of the Honour
In the first edition of this honour in 2080, Khadga Garbuja, Chaityadevi and Shashi Bikram Shah were honoured with the Vishist Sadhak Samman. In 2081, Bhairav Risal, Manikratna Sthapit and Pradip Kumar Upadhyaya were honoured.
