Bhojpur Schools Start Practical Technical Education

Community schools in Bhojpur have begun offering practical technical education to students. In line with government policy, schools have introduced skill-oriented teaching in agriculture and other technical fields.

Practical Agriculture Education at Yashodhara Secondary School

Yashodhara Secondary School, located at Taksar in Bhojpur Municipality–12, has taken land on lease to provide hands-on agricultural training. Students from grades 9 to 12 studying crop science are given both theoretical and practical education.

  • 15 ropani of leased land is being used to teach modern and technology-friendly farming methods.

  • The initiative aims to provide life-useful skills in addition to theoretical knowledge.

  • According to Principal Dhruvaraj Regmi, the school is focused on preparing students to engage in agricultural enterprises after completing their studies.

Focus on Technical and Practical Education

Principal Regmi emphasized that current educational needs go beyond traditional learning. Technical and practice-based education has been introduced to make students more independent and capable of starting agricultural ventures.

He also recalled the past government-run “Work and Study” program, which was highly beneficial for students but has now been discontinued. He suggested such programs should be reinstated to support learners.

Subjects and Training Areas

Students specializing in agriculture study 16 agriculture-related subjects from grades 9 to 12. According to crop science instructor Sulochana Giri, those wishing to pursue agricultural technical education must enroll from grade 9.

The training includes:

  • Rice, maize, and vegetable farming

  • Mushroom cultivation

  • Beekeeping

  • Fish farming

  • Preparation of organic pesticides

  • Identification and treatment of crop diseases and pests

Instructor Giri explained that the goal is to equip students with skills to lead a self-sufficient life in the future.

Students’ Experience

Grade 12 student Vivihangma Rai expressed that having technical education within the school has made learning more convenient. She said practical-based teaching has made it easier to gain useful skills.

The school introduced crop science practical education in 2017 (2074 BS). Currently, 32 students are enrolled in the crop science technical stream.
