KMC Concludes Four-Day International Conference (IJCC–2026)

Kathmandu | February 7, 2026

Kathmandu Model College (KMC), as the lead organizer, concluded the four-day “12th International Joint Conference on Convergence” (IJCC–2026). The conference, held under the main theme “Advanced and Applied Convergence for a Smarter, Sustainable Future,” concluded on February 6 after four days of knowledge exchange, dialogue, and collaboration.

The academic conference ran from February 3 to 6, 2026, with participation from reputed universities, research institutions, and scholars from Nepal, South Korea, and other countries.

Organizers and participating institutions

The conference was organized under KMC’s leadership in collaboration with:

  • IIBC

  • IPACT

  • VIDAK

  • Knowledge Forest

  • Nepal Open University (NOU)

According to the event details, professors, researchers, and experts from more than 20 universities in Nepal and South Korea participated, expanding international academic networking.

Inauguration and leadership

The inaugural session was held under the chief guestship of Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal. The program was chaired and led by IJCC–2026 President Prof. JeongJin Kang.

During the opening, speakers expressed that cross-border exchanges of knowledge, technology, and culture can support solutions to global challenges. Prof. Sang Hyun Lee of Honam University, Korea, delivered the welcome remarks and highlighted the conference’s role in expanding academic networks in Asia.

Research presentations and exhibition

Across four days, the conference featured:

  • More than 80 research paper presentations

  • 35 poster presentations

The conference also hosted the “VIDAK [K_Color] International Design Exchange Exhibition,” which connected Korean and Nepali visual cultures.

In academic sessions, experts presented on topics including:

  • IT-based governance systems and AI

  • Semiconductor packaging

  • AI and philosophy

Professor Dr. Suvarna Shakya from Pulchowk Campus presented on AI and e-governance, and Prof. Yeonhee Kim from Hoseo University delivered a special presentation on semiconductors and the AI era.

Collaboration, awards, and MoU signing

During the conference, “Best Paper Awards” were presented to outstanding research papers. KMC students also presented a cultural dance during the program.

In the closing session, Nepal Open University Acting Registrar Prof. Surendra Shrestha emphasized collaboration between open and traditional universities.

KMC Principal and Organizing Committee Chair Surendra Subedi thanked volunteers, the organizing team, distinguished speakers, and participants, and stated that the event helped advance KMC’s academic quality and international recognition.
