NRB Published Bank Holidays List for BS 2083 (2026/27)

Nepal Rastra Bank, Human Resource Management Department, has published the complete list of bank holidays for Bikram Sambat 2083. The published list includes a total of 35 holidays covering national holidays, province- and location-specific holidays, and holidays for different communities, along with office hours and banking transaction hours. This ist of holidays to be effective from 2026/04/14 to 2027/04/13.

The bank has clearly stated the rules related to the markings used in the holiday list.

Holidays marked with an asterisk will still require minimum staff presence to provide essential banking services related to customer service, including cash payment, ECC, monetary management, and RTGS, according to that day’s banking transaction hours.

Holidays marked with a check sign will take effect on the date later decided by the Government of Nepal.

For holidays marked with a hash sign, the concerned employees must make a self-declaration and inform the Human Resource Management Department in advance through their respective department, office, directorate, or unit.

Additional Conditions and Office and Banking Hours

The bank has also made the following provisions regarding additional conditions and office and banking hours:

If the Government of Nepal suddenly declares a public holiday, that day will be a bank holiday. However, essential banking services including cash payment, ECC, monetary management, and RTGS will continue with minimum staff presence according to that day’s banking transaction hours.
Every Saturday will be a full holiday.
Every Friday will be a half-day holiday.
Regarding office hours, from Baishakh 1, 2083 BS to Kartik 15, 2083 BS, and from Magh 16, 2083 BS to the end of Chaitra 2083 BS, offices will remain open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. From Kartik 16, 2083 BS to Magh 15, 2083 BS, office hours will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On every Friday, the office will remain open from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Regarding banking transaction hours, from Baishakh 1, 2083 BS to Kartik 15, 2083 BS, and from Magh 16, 2083 BS to the end of Chaitra 2083 BS, banking transactions will take place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. From Kartik 16, 2083 BS to Magh 15, 2083 BS, banking transactions will also continue from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On every Friday, banking transaction hours will be from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
On public holidays declared by a provincial government in its province, up to a maximum of 6 days in a year, offices located in that province will remain closed. If a provincial government declares more than 6 public holidays applicable throughout the province, and in the case of the three districts of Kathmandu Valley, the arrangement will be according to the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
