Minister Vows Modern, Job-Oriented University Curriculum

Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that university curricula will be made modern and employment-oriented. He said the government is making every possible effort for this.

Speaking at the convocation ceremony of Mid-West University on Wednesday, Pokharel said, “For this, we will make full efforts to arrange the necessary budget, infrastructure, and experts.”

He said the university should identify local needs and prioritize research on water resources, forests, medicinal herbs, tourism, and cultural heritage, which are abundant in the province.

“On behalf of the government and my ministry, I am fully committed to providing the necessary support to this university for high academic standards, digital education, and employment-oriented programs,” he said.

Stating that Mid-West University is a matter of pride for Karnali Province, he said it has made exemplary contributions to academic improvement, research, and technology.

He praised the university’s commitment to ensuring research-based education, sports, digital educational technology, and the use of the latest technology during nearly two decades since its establishment.

Addressing the graduating students, Minister Pokharel said, “The education you have received is not only for your personal achievement but also a powerful means for the development of society and the nation.”

He said that in Nepal’s context, the country is moving ahead on the path of development and prosperity.

“The quality education you have received will enable you to provide concrete solutions to issues such as scarcity, poverty, unemployment, health-related challenges, climate change, information technology, and biodiversity that the country is facing,” he added. “Your generation has the capacity to make a major contribution to strengthening the country’s economy through entrepreneurship, research, and innovation.”
