Special Teacher Promotions to Be Handled by District Education Development and Coordination Units

The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has delegated authority over special teacher promotions to the Education Development and Coordination Units (EDCUs) in the respective districts to make the process easier and more efficient.

The Commission made this decision during its meeting held on Asoj 16, 2083 BS, in accordance with Section 11(ञ) of the Education Act, 2028 (as amended).

Under the new arrangement, the chiefs of district Education Development and Coordination Units have been authorized to examine the necessary documents and supporting evidence for the special promotion of teachers approaching compulsory retirement and approve promotions if the requirements are met.

The Commission has already sent official correspondence to all Education Development and Coordination Units across the country regarding the delegation of authority.

Teachers No Longer Required to Visit the Commission for Special Promotions

According to Rule 39(1) of the Teacher Service Commission Regulations, 2057 (as amended), teachers approaching compulsory retirement are eligible for recommendation for promotion to a higher class one month before their retirement.

Previously, teachers seeking such promotions had to visit the Teacher Service Commission repeatedly to submit files and complete the necessary procedures.

With the implementation of the new arrangement, teachers will no longer be required to visit the Commission for these procedures.

According to the Commission, the authority to examine and verify the necessary documents and supporting evidence has been delegated to the chiefs of Education Development and Coordination Units in accordance with the Commission's earlier decision dated Magh 7, 2073 BS.

Under the revised arrangement, the concerned district Education Development and Coordination Units will verify the required documents and supporting evidence and proceed with the special promotion process at the district level.
