The Machhapuchchhre Annual Sports Meet 2023 was successfully conducted by the Machhapuchchhre IB World School on February 19, 2023. The event was held at the Shree Rajdal Gan, which is the Physical and Sports Centre of the Nepali Army in Lagankhel, Lalitpur. The program started at 11:00 am and continued until 4:00 pm. The event featured various sports and fun activities that were thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees.
Machhapuchchhre IB World School is a renowned institution that strives to produce change-makers. Therefore, the school often organizes such extra-curricular activities for the overall development of students, helping them become responsible, independent, critical, and creative individuals. The event was attended by the school's family, representatives from different organizations, parents, and other related individuals.
The Chief Guest of the program was D.K. Dhungana, who is the Central Committee Chairman of the Private and Residential School Organization Nepal. Likewise, Subas Newpane, who is the Central Committee Co-Chairman of the National Private and Residential School Organization Nepal, was present as the special guest.
The sports week included various competitions in athletics that were held in different categories, including track and field events. Additionally, competitions in 28 categories such as Kabaddi, Futsal, Badminton, Taekwondo, Chess, and others were held.
Sampurna Devapate, the school principal, welcomed the guests and parents and briefed them about the sports meet in her opening speech. Chief Guest Dhungana praised the school for managing to organize various student-centered activities and competitions in a short period. Meanwhile, the special guest Newpane expressed his gratitude towards the school for creating an environment conducive to students' development by making sports a part of education.
The program's chairman, Dr. Vinod Prasad Yadav, who is also the chairman of the school management committee, emphasized the importance of sports for physical and mental development, stating that it is equally important as education. The school awarded medals to the winners of various competitions.
Different houses represented by students, teachers, and staff performed attractive march passes, dancing, and singing, making the program more lively and exciting.
