Continuous Improvement in Class 12 Results: Pass Rate Reaches 69.75 Percent, Results Published Ahead of Schedule
Over the past two years, the pass rate in Class 12 results conducted by the National Examination Board has increased by nearly 17 percentage points. The pass rate, which was only 52.91 percent two years ago, rose to 61.17 percent last year and has now increased to 69.75 percent this year.
According to the Board, a total of 418,170 examinees participated in this year’s examination, which was conducted from Jestha 14 to 27. Of them, 332,241 were regular students and 85,929 were partial-category students. The government had directed the Board to publish the results within 45 days, and the Board released the results before the deadline. Earlier, the SEE results were also published within 29 days.
The Examination Board has stated that the main reason for this improvement in results is the training provided to teachers and the corrective measures adopted. According to Krishna Sharma, Controller of Examinations (Class 12) at the Board, more than 2,000 teachers were trained in question paper preparation and answer sheet evaluation. He said the reform campaign carried out up to the provincial, district, and local levels, after analyzing past results, had a positive impact. He said, “This campaign alerted teachers, students, and parents alike. Its result has been reflected in the outcome.”
With the early publication of Class 12 results, it has become easier for students to enroll at the bachelor’s level. In the past, students faced difficulties when results were not published even after admission notices had been issued. On Friday, while making public the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers over three months, Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel said the timely publication of results reflected the government’s commitment to good governance. He said that, unlike in the past when students had to wait more than three months for results, administrative procedures were made more efficient this time and the work was completed within a short period.
Minister Pokharel said that the early publication of results would have a positive impact on the overall academic calendar. According to him, as the Class 12 results have been published on time, universities will now also be able to conduct examinations and publish results on schedule. He said Tribhuvan University, among others, has already prepared to begin admission and teaching schedules earlier from this year.
Meanwhile, the Board has stated that it will conduct grade improvement examinations for examinees who have been “non-graded,” that is, failed, in a maximum of two subjects.
