Education Minister Pokharel Directs Newly Appointed Teachers Service Commission Officials to Work Effectively
Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has directed the newly appointed officials of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to make the Commission’s operations effective and results-oriented. Minister Pokharel issued the directive during a discussion with the Commission’s newly appointed officials, including Chair Dr. Hari Prasad Lamsal, at the ministry in Singha Durbar.
During the discussion, Minister Pokharel emphasized the need for timely amendments to the laws and regulations related to the Commission, along with improvements in teacher recruitment, promotion, and curriculum. He urged the officials to prioritize the adjustment of sanctioned teacher positions in schools, improvement of the examination system, and timely publication of examination results. He also expressed confidence that matters related to the Teachers Service Commission would be incorporated into the School Education Act, which is currently under preparation.
On the occasion, Commission Chair Dr. Lamsal said that work had already begun to make the Commission dynamic and results-oriented. Noting that policy and structural reforms are necessary to improve the Commission’s effectiveness and teacher management, he said the Commission had initiated efforts in that direction.
A recent Cabinet meeting had decided to appoint Dr. Lamsal of Bhaktapur as Chair of the Teachers Service Commission and Ram Sharan Sapkota of Makwanpur and Bishnu Ghimire Rimal of Kathmandu as members.
Officials from the minister’s secretariat and senior ministry officials were also present at the discussion.
