Job Vacancy: Project Manager for Resilient Livelihoods (CLIMATES Project) at UMN

United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international development organization that aims to help the poorest people in Nepal transform their lives towards fullness. UMN works with multicultural teams of Nepali and expatriate volunteer staff to build partnerships with local organizations, leading to healthy, dignified, empowered individuals, and transformed communities. UMN is currently seeking a Project Manager for the Resilient Livelihoods (CLIMATES Project) in Doti District.

Position: Project Manager- Resilient Livelihoods (CLIMATES Project) (Woman only)

Required No.:1 (Doti District)

The main purpose of this position Is to lead and ensure the successful implementation of the Climate-Change Impacts Mitigation & Adaptation for Environmental Sustainabitity (CLIMATES) Project and to contribute to the UMN Doti Cluster strategy through effective capacity-building relationship-building, project management, and providing technical expertise.

Job Description:

The main responsibility of the Project Manager is to lead and ensure the successful implementation of the Climate-Change Impacts Mitigation & Adaptation for Environmental Sustainability (CLIMATES) Project. The Project Manager will also contribute to the UMN Doti Cluster strategy through effective capacity-building, relationship-building, project management, and providing technical expertise.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Environmental Science/Climate Change/Sustainable Development/Agriculture/Forestry/Social Science with at least three years of working experience in integrated project management with a particular focus on climate change impact mitigation and adaptation.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science/Climate Change/Sustainable Development/Agriculture/Forestry/Social Science with at least five years of working experience in integrated project management with particular focus on climate change impact mitigation and adaptation.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the issues of environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation, mitigation, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and resilient livelihoods in the context of rural Nepal.
  • Strong skills and experience in project management, including design, planning, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, and developing concept notes and proposals.
  • Knowledge and experience in working on integrated project management and participatory bottom-up project designing.
  • Familiarity with up-to-date poverty eradication strategies, environment/climate change policies, and development practices in Nepal and internationally.
  • Experience in managing projects through a local partner organization.
  • Skill and strategy in coordination, rapport building, and networking with local and district stakeholders.
  • Experience in working in remote areas in cross-cultural environments and diversified contexts.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English and Nepali.
