TU Journalism Department Organizes One-Day Media Seminar

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Tribhuvan University recently hosted a one-day seminar focused on the growing relevance of digital journalism. Held at the Camera Building in Balkhu, the event brought together media educators, senior journalists, and students for a day of meaningful discussion.

Senior journalist Ramkrishna Regmi addressed the shift in the media landscape. “There was a time when print, television, and radio were dominant,” he said, “but now, the momentum is clearly with digital journalism.” He also highlighted the need to update university courses and encouraged thoughtful integration of AI tools in journalism.

Changing Media Trends Call for Curriculum Reform

Dr. Kundan Aryal, Head of the Department, said the program was designed to help participants understand current media trends and the importance of digital literacy. “New technology has changed how journalism works,” he said. “With those changes come both challenges and new possibilities.”

Spotlight on Regional Media Literacy

Dr. Bhanu Bhakta Acharya shared insights into media literacy across South Asia. His presentation emphasized the need to adapt to the digital age, not just in tools, but in knowledge-sharing and awareness. “In this tech-driven era, we need to keep learning—and help others learn too,” he said.

The seminar featured speakers from a wide range of institutions, offering both local and international perspectives. Presenters included:
