
AI in Fine Arts Program Concludes at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts
Author and journalist Ajay Sharma delivered a presentation on the theme of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Fine Arts. He discussed the background of AI, its development, and its use and impact in the field of fine arts.
Keshav Raj Khanal, President of the Nepal Fine Arts Journalists Society (SOFAJ), commented on Sharma’s presentation.
He emphasized the need to be cautious about future challenges posed by the widespread use of AI. He also mentioned the importance of classifying AI-generated art.
Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Naradmani Hartamchhali, stated that the use of AI must be time-relevant. He added that standards for identifying AI-generated art should be developed to provide recognition and space within fine arts.
Member Secretary Devendrakumar Kafle ‘Thumkeli’ noted that if technologies, including AI, are used appropriately, they can yield positive outcomes.
He expressed that accepting technological developments with time can support creative artists.
Saurganga Darshandhari, Head of the Multidimensional and Other Creative Arts Department, shared that AI use is not meaningful without proper guidance.
She emphasized the necessity of in-depth knowledge and awareness regarding the source of content.
Academician Narendra Prasad Bhandari, Academician Mukesh Malla, artist Diveshman Singh Pradhan, Academician Krishnaraj Sarbahari, Ramesh Dahal, journalist Sunil Paudel, among others, shared their thoughts and questions on the presentation.
Officials of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, artists, and journalists were present at the event.
