Education Ministry Temporarily Operates from Keshar Mahal
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology will temporarily operate from Keshar Mahal. According to Secretary Chudamani Poudel, this decision was taken after the physical infrastructure of the ministry was heavily damaged during the recent "Genji" group protest.
Currently, Keshar Mahal houses the Keshar Library and the Public Procurement and Monitoring Office. Both offices will be compressed to make space for the ministry’s operations. Keshar Mahal had suffered damage during the 2015 earthquake but was recently renovated. Before moving to Singha Durbar, the ministry was originally based at Keshar Mahal.
On Friday, a team led by Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal inspected the ministry premises. Although the infrastructure suffered damage, Secretary Poudel confirmed that official documents are safe. Vehicles parked in the basement were destroyed by fire, while the upper floors were only vandalized. No fire damage was reported. Online services, including the issuance of foreign study permits, continue to function normally.
