‘Educational Information 2082’ Published with Education Sector Statistics and Agency Details
The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Education and Sports, has published “Educational Information 2082.” The publication, issued by the Ministry based in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, was published in Jestha 2083 in 300 copies.
The publication includes brief information on the Ministry of Education and Sports and its central and departmental agencies, major programs, key achievements of FY 2082/083, educational statistics, and the organizational structures of central agencies.
According to the Ministry, the document has been prepared with the objective of presenting current information and statistics related to the education sector to stakeholders. In the publisher’s note, the publication is expected to be useful for teachers, students, parents, educationists, policymakers, and other stakeholders in the education sector.
The document includes details of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Center for Education and Human Resource Development, Curriculum Development Center, Educational Quality Testing Center, National Examinations Board, National Records Office (Teacher), Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training, Teachers Service Commission, Medical Education Commission, and University Grants Commission, among other agencies.
According to the details included in the publication, the total number of Early Childhood Development and Education centers reached 42,619 in 2082. It states that the number of children was 1,220,538 and that the percentage of children enrolled in Grade 1 with Early Childhood Development center experience was 77.5.
The publication presents data on student numbers by level for the academic session 2082: 1,220,538 in Early Childhood Development centers, 3,554,904 in basic level Grades 1–5, 1,819,368 in basic level Grades 6–8, and 5,374,272 in basic level Grades 1–8.
Among the Ministry’s achievements, the publication mentions that 68 districts and 5 provinces in Nepal have been declared literate so far, access to school education has been ensured for 97.7 percent of children in the basic-level age group, the gross enrollment rate in higher education has reached 23 percent, and the number of institutions providing technical education and vocational training has reached 1,203.
