Numbur Technical School Gets Rs. 112 Million Funding

A five-year funding agreement worth NPR 112.375 million has been signed between Solududhakunda Municipality of Solukhumbu and the France-based Solu-Chyam organization for the operation of Numbur Multi-Technical School.

Mayor Namgel Jangbu Sherpa signed on behalf of the municipality, while Nima Sherpa, Nepal representative of Solu-Chyam, signed on behalf of the organization.

Mayor Calls it a Historic Opportunity

Following the agreement, Mayor Sherpa stated that this marks a strong foundation for the sustainable operation of Numbur Multi-Technical School.

He noted that it opens the door to new possibilities for technical education not just in Solududhakunda but across all of Solukhumbu.

He expressed confidence that this would be a historic achievement in the field of technical manpower development.

School Already Constructed and Operational

The school, located in Solududhakunda Municipality–7, was built at a cost of around NPR 34.5 million.

It is already operational and was constructed through a cost-sharing model between the French donor agency and Solududhakunda Municipality.

Training to Prevent Youth Migration

Mayor Sherpa explained that the school was established with the aim of teaching youth self-employment skills to prevent foreign labor migration.

Education is being provided free of cost in the fully equipped and modern technical institution.

Initial Enrollment and Training Programs

Priority has been given to students from the municipality, followed by other areas of the district.

According to Nima Sherpa, Chairperson of the school, three courses—plumbing, cooking, and house wiring—have started with 10 students each, totaling 30 students.

Programs Approved by CTEVT

All three courses are two-year programs affiliated with CTEVT.

Students who have completed the SEE examination have enrolled in these residential programs.

Qualified instructors have been brought from Kathmandu and Biratnagar.

Arrangements for food and accommodation have been made for all students.

According to Chairperson Sherpa, an additional 30 students will be enrolled in new programs after six months.

Local Education Reducing Migration to Cities

With the establishment of this technical school, the need to spend large sums to pursue vocational education in Kathmandu has decreased.

Parents have expressed satisfaction that their children can now receive vocational training within their own communities.
