Prakash Secondary School Sets Benchmark in Public Education

The academic condition of some government schools around Beni headquarters is not encouraging. Results from the recent Grade 8 municipal-level exam conducted by Beni Municipality revealed the poor state of several local government schools.

Prakash Secondary School Inspires Amid Crisis

While community schools near Beni, Myagdi, face challenges, Prakash Secondary School has begun to spark hope. The school exemplifies how a public institution can deliver quality education with the combined will of the school management committee, teachers, staff, administration, and parents.

Maintaining Reputation Despite Declining Enrollment

Although student numbers are declining, Prakash Secondary School has preserved its reputation and proven itself academically strong. Over the past three years, the school has improved its academic quality, making it a preferred choice for parents.

A Model of Academic Excellence

Prakash Secondary School is now emerging as a model center of educational excellence. Due to quality education, use of modern technology, and strong management, the school has gained recognition not only locally but also at the district level. These achievements have increased parental interest in the school.

Attraction from Private School Parents

Parents are enrolling their children in Prakash Secondary School after pulling them out of private institutions. The school has enhanced the reputation of government schools, attracting more families.

Classes from Early Childhood to Grade 12

The school offers well-equipped early childhood development classes through Grade 12. It also provides education in science, humanities, management, and higher secondary education. Around 1,000 students are enrolled, supported by over 39 skilled and experienced teachers and staff.

Team Synergy Behind Achievements

The school's academic success is attributed to the cohesive efforts of teachers, staff, the school management committee, and the administrative team.

Modern Infrastructure Enhancing Learning

Assistant Principal Binay Shrestha states that developing digital classrooms, computer and science labs, and a library has energized students' learning.

"In the past three years, the school's academic success has made it a top choice for parents. Each year, more students transfer from private schools. Our achievements are due to the joint efforts of the school’s management, staff, and parents."

Vision of Becoming a Smart School

Principal Lekh Bahadur Hamal says the school is moving forward with a vision to become smart through infrastructure, human resources, financial, and academic development.

"We aim to produce competitive students through quality and practical education. The collaboration among parents, teachers, and students has brought the school to this height. Prakash Secondary School proves that public schools can also become a top choice for parents."

Ongoing Challenges

According to Principal Hamal, financial development, land management, academic achievements, co-curricular activities, and maintaining social relationships remain.

Excellence in Extracurricular Activities

Prakash Secondary School excels in academics and extracurricular activities such as sports, cultural programs, science exhibitions, and debates.

Community Support and Leadership

Local support has helped position the school as an educational hub in the district. Encouraged by the school's remarkable progress, respected community leaders have taken the initiative to guide it further.

Renewed Glory through Reforms

School Management Committee Chairman Hari Krishna Shrestha noted that permanent teachers appointed through the Education Service Commission, an efficient administration, English-medium instruction, and achievements in sports have revived the school's past glory.

"We have set an action plan to improve academic quality further and build trust among parents, aiming to establish the school as a model institution in the district. Due to competent administrators, highly qualified teachers, and staff, the school has succeeded academically."

Transforming Parental Mindset

Parent-Teacher Association Chairman Lilaram Gautam says that Prakash Secondary School has changed the perception that children must attend boarding schools.

"The school has demonstrated that government schools can excel with strong management, committed teachers, and an academic environment."

Students from Prestigious Families Enroll

Principal Hamal noted that even the children of prominent local merchants, teachers, and officials are enrolling. Over 120 new students have joined different grades since the start of the new academic session, and the number is expected to grow.

Emphasis on Teacher Training

Before the new academic session began, the school prioritized teacher training and educational material development programs to enhance teaching skills.

Interaction with Parents After Exams

After each internal exam, the school interacts with parents to help improve the performance of weaker students. A dedicated parent community committee has been formed for ongoing engagement.

Support for Weaker Students

Principal Hamal mentioned that the school identifies weak students based on internal exam results and conducts additional classes to support their learning. He also emphasized the need for further infrastructure development.
