All Nepal Teachers' Organization Accuses Government of Betrayal

On Sunday, Ashad 15, 2082, the All Nepal Teachers' Organization publicly released a statement accusing the government of deceiving Nepali teachers and staff.

Betrayal of Agreement with Teachers

The organization expressed deep disappointment over the failure to pass the Education Act as promised. Despite the involvement of two major political parties forming a near two-thirds majority government, and written commitments by chief whips from both ruling parties to pass the Act on Ashad 15, the promise remains unfulfilled.

The organization described the situation as humiliating for teachers and education employees nationwide.

Call for Accountability

The statement urged those who have repeatedly deceived teachers and staff to immediately take public responsibility and be held accountable for their actions.

Statement on Civil Service Act

The organization pointed out that while the Federal Civil Service Act was passed—though necessary—it was done without protest or prior agreement. Meanwhile, the Education Act, despite protests and formal negotiations, remains delayed.

This contrast, according to the organization, reveals the manipulative tendencies within Nepal’s parliamentary politics, where moral accountability is disregarded in favor of power-driven decisions.

Concerns Over Parliamentary Proceedings

Parliament has now been adjourned for one week. The organization suspects that the government lacks commitment to introducing a progressive Education Act. They believe that the demands raised by teachers and staff have been ignored. Discussions continue to regress even below the outdated and ineffective 2028 Education Act.

The parliamentary committee, instead of reaching a substantive conclusion, is trapped in its own inaction.

Widening Uncertainty

The organization noted that the process of introducing the Education Act has become uncertain. The government appears to be entangled in superficial linguistic revisions rather than working toward strengthening public education.

This, the statement adds, has not only caused deep frustration among teachers and staff but also triggered painful memories of past betrayals.

Public Challenge and Warning

Through the same statement, the All Nepal Teachers' Organization publicly challenged the government to guarantee the enactment of the Federal Education Act without delay.

Otherwise, they warned that professional protests could resume, and the government must be prepared to face the consequences.
