Mid-West University, Surkhet has begun preparing a five-year strategic plan. The University’s Directorate of Planning Development and Monitoring has started interactions and collection of suggestions related to the preparation of this plan today from Narayan Multiple Campus in Dailekh.
In the programme, former Member of Parliament Rabindra Raj Sharma suggested preparing the plan in a way that produces human resources who can be absorbed according to the needs of society and the demands of the labour market.
Executive Director of the University’s Directorate of Planning Development and Monitoring and coordinator of the five-year strategic plan drafting committee, Dr Bishnu Kumar Khadka, said that the plan will be designed to attract students, teach them skills for earning a living, and make those skills sustainable and marketable.
During the interaction, Deputy Mayor of Narayan Municipality Tapta Kumari Thapa; member of the University Planning Council and Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering, Associate Professor Rajan Suwal; former chairs of the campus management committee Tek Bahadur Khand, Khadka Bahadur Singjapati and Tej Bahadur Chand; chair of the Dailekh chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Amar Bahadur Sunar; and the Free Students’ Union treasurer of the campus, Sushma Shahi, among others, suggested bringing the plan forward by keeping in view the need for regular and technology-friendly classes, practical and life-oriented education, and measures to be adopted for the development and expansion of the campus.
