President Paudel’s Message on National Children’s Day
President Ram Chandra Paudel has sent warm greetings to all Nepali children and their parents on the occasion of National Children’s Day.
Nepal observes this day every year on Bhadra 29, marking the date the country ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This year’s theme is “Investment in Children: Beginning of a Secure Future.”
In his message, the President said that Children’s Day should move the nation to focus on children’s education, health, protection, and development, and to ensure the investment needed for their well-being.
He stated, “Nepal’s Constitution guarantees children’s rights as fundamental rights. To put these rights into practice, we need coordinated efforts from government and non-government bodies, civil society, parents, schools, and all concerned stakeholders. This day encourages the state and society to act responsibly, keeping the interests of children first.”
The President noted that some children are still deprived of their rights. He called for attention to the causes that harm children and reminded everyone that stopping all forms of inhuman treatment, violence, and abuse against children is the duty of the concerned authorities and stakeholders.
He further said, “To secure children’s future, we must arrange for creative, practical, free, and quality education; nutritious food; safe drinking water and sanitation; required immunizations; child-friendly health institutions; and policy, legal, and child-friendly implementation.”
To support this aim, the message highlights the need to create safe environments at home, in schools, and in communities, and to ensure fair opportunities for children from all groups and communities.
President Paudel expressed hope that this day will draw the attention of all concerned to fulfill their roles in children’s protection, development, and participation, and that it will inspire everyone to work for their overall growth.
