Youth and Sports Budget 2082/83

Mobilizing Youth for Nation Building

Youth will be motivated to participate in nation-building with self-discipline and a spirit of service. Their contribution to the country’s economic and social development and public service delivery will be enhanced.

National Volunteer Identification Program

In coordination with the National Youth Council, national volunteer ID cards will be issued to individuals above 16 years based on defined criteria. These volunteers will be trained and deployed in education, health, social awareness, environmental protection, disaster rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.

Concessional Loans for Educated Youth

To encourage entrepreneurship and self-employment among educated youth, concessional loans ranging from Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 2 million will be provided without collateral at a 3% interest rate. Eligibility will be based on academic qualifications, business registration, skills certification, and project proposals.

Investment in Sports Infrastructure and Athlete Development

Investment will be increased for constructing sports infrastructure and developing athlete professionalism. Continuous training and competitions will be organized to build a strong “I can win” mindset among athletes.

Promoting Public-Private Partnership in Sports

The private sector will be encouraged to invest in sports infrastructure to promote national and international competitions. Accessibility to roads, drinking water, and electricity will be ensured for such infrastructure.

International-Level Stadiums and High-Altitude Sports

An international-standard multipurpose stadium will be constructed in Damak, Jhapa. To diversify sports disciplines and promote sports tourism, high-altitude sports stadiums will be built in Solukhumbu, Mustang, and Jumla.

Budget Allocations for Stadium Development

Rs. 420 million has been allocated for the construction of the Mulpani Cricket Stadium (Kathmandu), Girija Prasad Koirala Stadium (Morang), Fapla Cricket Stadium (Kailali), and Siddhartha Cricket Stadium (Rupandehi). Rs. 400 million has been allocated to upgrade the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium. A conditional grant has been arranged for acquiring the assets of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Chitwan based on valuation by the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University. The budget for sports infrastructure has seen a significant increase.

National Sports Event and Anti-Doping Agency

Rs. 540 million has been allocated for organizing the 10th National Sports Competition in Birendranagar, Surkhet. Required budget arrangements have been made to operate the National Anti-Doping Agency.

Incentives for Medal-Winning Athletes

Nepali athletes who win medals in international competitions will be rewarded. Educational scholarships will be provided to such athletes and their children. Existing incentives for athletes and coaches will continue.

Promoting Women in Sports

Training and practice programs targeting women will be launched to increase female participation in sports. Special awards will be arranged for outstanding female athletes.

Establishment of Sports Academies in Provinces

Budget has been allocated to operate sports academies in at least three schools in each province. Children and youth will be trained through the Scouts to become responsible, disciplined, self-reliant, principled, and capable individuals, and mobilized in social service and rescue operations.

Total Allocation for Youth and Sports Ministry

Rs. 6.08 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
