The MBBS program has defined progression rules.
Students must pass the first-year examination within a maximum of six attempts, including the regular attempt. The second-year examination must be passed within a maximum of four attempts, including the regular attempt. Students can join second-phase classes only after passing all subjects in the first phase.
If a student does not pass the first-phase examinations within the prescribed limit, admission is canceled and the student is removed from the program.
Absence in an examination held during the stated period is counted as an attempt. A maximum of two attempts in the first phase may remain uncounted in cases approved by the Dean’s Office under the stated conditions.
Every student must pass all subjects within ten years from the start of the academic session. Students who do not do so have their admission canceled after the expiry of that period.
Students must present themselves at their respective campus or college within 15 days from the commencement of classes.
The final year of the program includes one year of rotatory internship. After successful completion of the course requirements, graduates move toward the Nepal Medical Council Licensing Examination (NMCLE).
