Newly Appointed Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Pant, States That Problems of Agitating Teachers Will Be Resolved Through Dialogue.
After assuming office at the ministry on Thursday, Minister Pant said he would now focus more on working and producing results rather than speaking.
Speaking to journalists, Minister Pant said, "I have just entered the ministry. I have not yet acquired full information on all subjects, so it would not be appropriate for me to comment before understanding the matters properly. Instead of talking much, I will focus on how to work."
Pant expressed that he is aware of the teachers' protests on the streets demanding amendments to the Education Act and addressing other professional demands.
Entering the ministry near the end of office hours, he approved a file presented by Secretary Kafle regarding the formation of a team to create necessary procedures for organizing the ministry’s internal control management system and officially assumed his duties.
He emphasized that dialogue is the only way to resolve all issues.
Teachers have been continuously demonstrating in the Baber Mahal and Baneshwor areas since Chaitra 20. Although the government has repeatedly requested discussions regarding the teachers’ demands, the teachers have been refusing. However, informal discussions with ministry officials are ongoing.
Pant was appointed Minister of Education, Science and Technology after the resignation of the former minister, Bidhya Bhattarai.
Before assuming office, Minister Pant took the oath of office before President Ramchandra Paudel at a program held at Sheetal Niwas on Thursday.
After the resignation of the then Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bidhya Bhattarai, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appointed Pant as the new minister on Wednesday.
