Salary Allowance Halted for Narad Adarsha Campus Chief
Chaudandigadhi Municipality of Udayapur has stopped the salary allowance of Narad Adarsha Education Campus Chief.. The municipality decided to halt the salary and benefits of Campus Chief Rajkumar Rai, citing his failure to fulfill official duties.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Municipal Education Committee held on Bhadra 11. The meeting concluded that Chief Rai of the campus located at Basaha Barkhedanda, Chaudandigadhi-4, had not carried out his responsibilities according to the rules.
According to the Municipal Education Division, the meeting chaired by Committee Chairman and Mayor Kaluman Lama decided to stop the salary and benefits as he did not fulfill his assigned duties.
The division reported that the meeting found Rai was not regularly present at the campus, was engaged in contract and other personal works instead of dedicating time to the campus, and had not implemented educational plans to make the campus self-reliant. The meeting further stated that Rai failed to prepare plans to make the campus sustainable and to increase the student enrollment.
The municipality conducted monitoring of campus activities after students and parents filed complaints against the chief for not fulfilling his responsibilities.
To improve the campus of Basaha, which is also the home ward of Mayor Lama, the municipality had been annually allocating budget for salary and benefits to ensure the campus chief worked full-time.
According to the municipality, the salary and allowances were equivalent to what a Second Class Gazetted Officer of the Government of Nepal receives. However, as the allocated budget under the campus improvement plan was not being utilized as expected, the municipality decided to stop the payment.
Mayor Lama said that since his election, he had prioritized the academic improvement of two campuses within the municipality. He added that although the municipality allocated budget accordingly, complaints increased as the expected work was not delivered.
After repeated warnings and unsatisfactory evaluations of work performance, the salary and benefits were stopped as a warning measure, Lama clarified.
He further stated that under the educational improvement plan, Narad Adarsha Campus of Ward No. 4 and Jyoti Janata Multiple Campus of Belatar in Ward No. 6 were both allocated an annual conditional budget of Rs. 600,000 each, with full-time campus chiefs appointed.
Despite the yearly budget allocation for campus improvement, the municipality said it was forced to halt the facilities due to the lack of expected results.
