KU School of Education Hosts Transformative Education Conference

KU School of Education Organizes First National Teacher Conference in Biratnagar

Kathmandu University School of Education (KU SoEd) has launched its first-ever teacher conference on Transformative Practices in Education, aiming to expand the initiative nationwide.

Conference Begins at Aspire College, Biratnagar

The extended outreach of Kathmandu University officially began on Sunday at Aspire College, Biratnagar. The program was inaugurated under the banner “7 Provinces, 7 Conferences.”

The event featured Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel, Dean of KU School of Education, as the keynote speaker.

Presence of Key Educational Leaders

Several notable figures attended the program, including:

  • Prof. Dr. Dhanapati Subedi, KU School of Education

  • Dr. Binod Prasad Pant, Head of STREAM Education Department

  • Mr. Bikash Adhikari, Chairperson, Aspire College

  • Mr. Pratik Raut, Director, Aspire College

  • Mr. Rajan Paudel, Province Chairperson, National PABSON (Koshi)

  • Mr. Krishna Prasad Pokharel, Director, Education Development Directorate, Koshi Province (Dharan)

The event was chaired by Mr. Sandeep Dhungana from Kathmandu University’s CPEC.

Aspire College Principal Expresses Commitment

During the session, Principal Chintamani Basnet of Aspire College expressed his belief that the college will serve as a model institution under Kathmandu University and become a center of learning across disciplines.

He emphasized that this educational conference would continue as a recurring initiative.

Keynote Presentation on Transformative Education

Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Luitel delivered a detailed presentation on the what, why, and how of transformative education.

He explored a range of topics including:

  • Types of learning

  • Learning environments

  • Pedagogical approaches

  • Learning processes

  • Perspectives on learning and assessment

Participation from Across Koshi Province

The event saw participation from 187 teachers and academic professionals, with representation from all 14 districts of Koshi Province.

These individuals brought extensive experience in the educational field, making the gathering both diverse and impactful.

Workshops and Paper Presentations

The event featured multiple paper presentations on varied academic topics.

Workshops on education-related themes and leadership development were facilitated by:

  • Associate Prof. Dr. Binod Pant

Parallel Sessions on Key Educational Topics

A total of 20 parallel sessions were conducted during the conference, covering subjects such as:
